Mr. Cross – Trusted Estate & Trust Attorney | Trial Advocate | Duke Law Graduate
Mr. Cross is a highly respected attorney with a distinguished record of legal excellence, client advocacy, and professional integrity. A graduate of Duke University School of Law (J.D. and LL.M. in International & Comparative Law), he has been recognized with the AV Preeminent® rating—the highest possible distinction for both legal ability and ethical standards—from Martindale-Hubbell®. Since 2013, he has been named to Super Lawyers, a testament to his consistent professional achievement and peer recognition.
With a practice focused on estate planning, trust administration, and select estate and trust litigation, Mr. Cross is committed to helping clients protect their assets, preserve their legacies, and navigate complex legal issues with confidence. His approach combines strategic insight, technical precision, and a deep sense of personal responsibility to each client’s goals and values.
Mr. Cross brings extensive litigation experience, including successful representation in both bench and jury trials, as well as select appellate matters. He is counsel of record in the California Supreme Court’s landmark decision Haggerty v. Thornton, 15 Cal.5th 729 (2024), further establishing his influence in trust and estate law.
He is admitted to practice before all California state courts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the United States Tax Court, and several U.S. District Courts across California and Colorado.
Before founding his own firm, Mr. Cross practiced with Cooley LLP, where he honed his skills in high-stakes litigation and complex client matters. His dedication to service is also reflected in his pro bono contributions, having received multiple honors including the Distinguished Service Award from the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program and the Wiley W. Manual Award for Pro Bono Legal Services.
On a personal level, Mr. Cross is deeply rooted in the San Diego community where he grew up. He is actively involved in several social justice initiatives, charitable organizations, and local professional associations. His commitment to service extends beyond the courtroom, reflecting a lifelong dedication to improving the lives of others and strengthening the community he proudly calls home.
